Woodlands Story-Time | Fairy House Mug – Studio Originals

There's a door at the base of the handle. It's very small. And someone has decorated it with an arch of branches and flowers.

We don't know who lives there. But we think you should find out.

Inspired by the magic of The Magic Faraway Tree - that childhood certainty that if you looked hard enough at the right tree, you'd find a door! This wheel-thrown stoneware mug brings that feeling to your morning brew. Nestled at the base of the handle is a tiny hand-sculpted fairy door, framed by an arch of branches and flowers. 

The body of the mug has been hand-carved to resemble tree bark - tactile, textured, and deeply satisfying to hold. Turn it over and you'll find circular rings on the underside, like the cross-section of an ancient woodland tree, counting rings you'll never quite reach the end of. The exterior is left unglazed, so the raw grey Scandi stoneware clay feels exactly as it should - like bark.

Inside and around the rim, a drippy blue, cream, and green glaze pools and flows like soft light filtering through a forest canopy. The contrast between the beautifully glazed interior and the raw carved exterior makes this mug feel like it belongs somewhere magical.

Woodlands Story-Time is part of the Studio Originals collection. These are one-of-a-kind pieces made entirely by hand in my East Sussex garden studio, so no two pieces are ever the same.
