It was right there. And now it isn't. Peering over the folded rim of this charming handmade trinket dish from my Studio Originals Collection, a tiny hand-sculpted brown dog surveys the scene - his little red ball sitting at the bottom of the dish, just out of reach, as if it's fallen into a pond.

Wheel-thrown in my East Sussex garden studio and finished entirely by hand, this piece wears the same stunning deep glossy black glaze with silver-grey flecks as its companion pieces. Inside, the dish is glazed in a rich deep blue - the perfect pond, as it turns out. The red ball detail makes the whole scene feel like a tiny, perfectly observed moment.
